Roku Express model 3930 replaces Roku Express model 3900 and 3700. You can use these steps to set up all models.
Set Up Roku Express With TV
Roku Express will work for any television with an HDMI connection. We recommend using the High-Speed HDMI Cable that comes with your Roku Express.
Power your Roku Express, connect it to a wall outlet with a USB power adapter like one you use with your smartphone. A typical 5V, 1A (1000mA) USB charger should work.
You can also connect your Roku Express to the USB port on your TV using the included USB power cable but make sure TV’s may be unable to power a Roku player.
If you see the on-screen warning message that appears in these cases, use a USB power adapter like the one described above.
Set Up Roku Express
If required, attach your Roku Express using the adhesive strip.
Use your TV remote to power on your television and select the input where you connected your Roku Express. You should see the Roku logo on the TV screen as your player powers on.
Slide open the battery cover on the back side of your remote and insert batteries.
You see a solid red light or flashing red light on the front of your Roku Express.
On-screen setup and activation
Choose a language
The first screen you see allows you to choose a language. All text and dialog within the Roku interface display in the selected language.
Scroll up and down the list and press the OK button on your Roku remote to choose a language.
It is the job of the channel publisher to translate their channel and there are channels which may not support your chosen language.
Connect Roku Express to the network and the internet
Choose your WIFI from the list of available networks and enter your password. This is the same network you use to connect your computer or smartphone to the internet. If you do not see your network, select Scan again.
If you want to see your password as you type, choose Show password. This can help prevent entering the wrong password.
Once you enter your password and select Connect, your Roku Express will automatically connect to the internet.
Roku Express downloads the latest software
Once Roku connects to the internet, it will download the latest version of Roku OS software and then reboot.
Set the display
Select Set display type and let your Roku Express auto detect the best display resolution so you do not need to manually configure the settings.
Change the display type later, go to Settings > Display type.
Create Roku account and activate Roku Express
Your Roku account keeps track of which Roku devices you own and lets you to add free and purchase channels from the Roku Channel Store.
Instructions to activate your Roku Express will display on your TV, with an activation code, e.g., “NTXCCUI.” You would need to go on www. roku.com/link on your computer or smartphone or enter the above code and follow the instructions to activate your Roku Express.
